Binding Styles

Rounded Binding
A rounded spine gives the book its classic contour, producing a graceful shape and a more traditional opening suited to handbound work.

Rounded & Backed Binding
After rounding, the spine is backed to form shoulders for the boards, creating a binding of greater definition, strength, and formality in the traditional manner.

Full Binding
The volume is covered entirely in one material, most often leather or cloth, giving the book a complete and unified character with a strong sense of finish.

Half Binding
The spine and corners are covered in a principal material, typically leather, while the boards are covered in a complementary cloth or paper, creating a binding of contrast, balance, and durability.

Quarter Binding
The spine is covered in a distinct material, with the boards finished separately, producing a restrained and elegant structure that places emphasis on spine detail.

Finishing Options

Each binding can have a range of finishes, ranging from blind tooling, foil tooling, end paper selections, decorative headbands, edge gilding and more.
